| The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze the key components influencing player motivation in Premier League football clubs. Using a mixed-method approach, the researcher reviewed previous studies and conducted expert interviews to extract motivational factors, followed by a questionnaire survey to assess their relative impact on players. The analysis identified four main components affecting motivation: (1) methods of evaluating player performance, (2) maintaining the dignity and status of athletes, (3) personality characteristics, and (4) financial mechanisms and club amenities. The findings revealed that respect and maintaining athletes’ dignity, along with financial incentives and reward systems, had the strongest influence on player motivation. Conversely, club amenities and welfare facilities, such as housing, medical services, and insurance, had the least effect, suggesting that players do not highly value these aspects or have adjusted their expectations accordingly. Additionally, personality traits such as self-confidence, mental stability, and determination were closely linked to higher motivation and better performance under competitive pressure. Overall, the results highlight that psychological and moral factors play a crucial role in sustaining athlete motivation alongside financial rewards. It is recommended that sports organizations and clubs reinforce respect-based values through adherence to ethical codes, transparency in financial activities, and increased athlete involvement in decision-making. Strengthening these elements can foster a greater sense of value, commitment, and motivation among professional football players, ultimately contributing to improved individual and team performance in competitive environments. | ||
