| چکیده [English] | ||
| Kelussia odoratissima Mozaff. is an endangered medicinal plant valued for its therapeutic uses. Mining transcriptome for genes encoding various functional peptides is crucial to protect the vulnerable wild species from over-harvesting. RALF (Rapid Alkalinization Factor) peptides are small, secreted, hormone-like peptides in plants that play a crucial role in regulating growth, development, and responses to environmental stresses. In this study, to identify and characterize members of the RALF peptide family in kelus, leaf transcriptome data was analyzed using bioinformatics approaches. Analysis resulted in the identification of 9 genes encoding peptides of the RALF family. Sequence analysis these peptides revealed that they possess conserved motifs such as RRXL and YISY, as well as four conserved cysteine residues. Further investigations showed that changes in length, net charge, and amino acid composition of these peptides likely occurred during evolution and post-translational modifications, enabling their biological roles to adapt to environmental stresses through sequence variations. Additionally, phylogenetic analysis of the RALF peptides from Kelussia odoratissima revealed the closest evolutionary affinity to those from Apiaceae family including carrot, celery and coriander, indicating the conservation of these peptides' functions across higher plants. Overall, the findings of this study, for the first time, demonstrate that RALF family peptides are expressed in Kelussia odoratissima. Given their roles in coping with various environmental conditions and stresses, these peptides hold potential for use in the genetic improvement of other plant species. | ||
